SILLY LOVERS

February 13, 2011

The hubs went to a Valentines party sans me on Saturday night. I was still in NC.

He came home with these bad boys. Holographic heart glasses. Oh yeah.

Being the silly guy & gal we are, we had to try them on and take pictures! They even came with a single, red candle. You can be sure we'll be putting these to good use tomorrow.

See? Hearts!

P365 - week 6.

Week 6 is here already. I've been doing good with the project, much better than I expected!
This week's pictures are chock full of NC goodness.

36. L-bug, knocked out during the car ride to my parent's house after a not fun flight.
37. The beautiful waterfront in Morehead City.
38. One of Lia's classic messes! This time it's sprawled all over my mom's kitchen floor.
39. A mini photo shoot.
40. Oh, Krispy Kreme. You taste like heaven.
41. Bojangles heart-shaped biscuit. Yum!
42. Dollarstorelovedayballoon overload. Yeah....

Me and L flew back home today. The flight back was a lot smoother than our first. The Raleigh airport has the nicest security. Ever! The plane was pretty empty, so we got our own row. Lia was a little antsy when I had to hold her during take-off but she settled down for the most party afterwards. Thanks to Yo Gabba Gabba, juice, animal crackers and cheerios. Halfway through, she was so tired from being up early and it being naptime that she fell asleep and didn't wake up until we had landed and were getting off the plane!

It's so nice to be back home and to be with M again. We aren't unpacked yet but I did clean up the kitchen, do some grocery shopping, pick up the mess Lia made in the living room the minute we got home and swept the floors!

I think I'll do some cleaning tomorrow and have a nice family day. Then, we're expecting my sister to fly in from Germany this week!

Hope everyone has a fun weekend!

P.S.
I just want to say thanks to everyone who left such sweet comments on my "big news" post! It's very scary and nerve-wracking but reading your words made me feel so much better. I have awesome readers!

FILL IN THE BLANK FRIDAY

1. The TV show/website that I watch/read that I would be embarrassed to tell anyone about is...
Hmm..I really like some of the Nick Jr shows for their catchy tunes. I've been known to throw some Biz's Beats of the day around. Thanks Yo Gabba Gabba.

2. An item of clothing that is worn and torn but that I love far to much to throw away is...
I guess my grey yoga pants circa yoga class in my community college days. They just recently wripped in the crotch but they are still so soft & comfy I hate throwing them out.

3. My grocery store impulse buy is...
Nothing really. I am pretty good at only buying what I really need, in the grocery department that is.

4. Something I do at work to pass time that I wouldn't want my co-workers to know about is...
I don't have co-workers. I am a stay-at-home momma. I do waste spend alot of time on the interwebs though.

5. One thing in my life that I could give up, but never will is...
Reading books & magazines. They are my way of relaxing and clearing my head!

6. A little indulgence that I have is...
Baking cookies or brownies. I don't keep snacks or sweets in the house but I do always have the ingredients on hand to bake something up.

7. The junk drawer/area in my house is...
In the kitchen. We've got one junk drawer in the kitchen, but it is kind of organized! The spare bedroom holds a lot of junk too. And all of L's extra clothing she outgrew or has yet to grow into.

EMBRACE THE CAMERA AND SOME NEWS

February 10, 2011

This week L and I have been visiting my parents in North Carolina. On Sunday, we all headed down to Morehead City for the Chocolate Festival. It was such a beautiful day outside, we had to check out the waterfront behind the convention center and take some pictures.

And, for the news. It's life changing. It's scary. It's not going to be easy. It's something that we are going to need to find our way through it as a family. It's exciting. It's new. It's a "I get to keep my husband around more often" kind of change.

We are officially getting out of the Marine Corp!

See? Scary. Big.

We've been dealing with this for awhile, but I didn't want to bring anything up until things got more official. Our EAS date (last day in the service) is February 22nd.

I know that the economy is unstable and not so good. But I have faith in my husband, our family and our choices. M is an incredible man who is such a hard worker. The Marine Corp has been so good for us and him the past 6 (7?) years. It has brought us challenges and opportunities. It has taken care of us and supported us. It has brought us some amazing friends.

It's bittersweet leaving. It's hard knowing that we won't be a part of this community anymore. It's weird knowing we are going to be civilians again. I will miss the things you become a part of being a military family. I will miss the amazing people.

But, I guess everyone has to move on at some point. This is our point. We will learn. We will adjust. We will adapt and overcome (as M and marines say). We will make it work. And, we will be happy.

I am ready for a new place. A new town to discover. New friends to meet. A house that isn't connected to two other families. Settling down. Making more babies. Raising Lia somewhere M and I love.

We will be moving in with my parents (!) for a while. We are looking into jobs in South Carolina. We've got some good prospects. I am hoping (and dreaming) of our little family moving to the South and settling in within the next few months.

I wish I knew what was going to happen. I wish I knew, for sure, everything was going to work out as we imagine. But, I don't. And it eats away at me. But a wise guy once texted me that "we can make it as long as we make it as a team and not one on one". I am going to put all my faith into that and try to relax my brain from freaking out. Good luck to me!

Any future friends in South Carolina?
