CHRISTMAS DAY

December 27, 2018

Another perfect Christmas in the books! Christmas this year felt a lot like checking off boxes. A never-ending to-do list that we felt HAD to be done. In the end, I cut a few corners, lowered some expectations and breathed. It was perfect. It always is perfect.

Our snowman pancake tradition grew by a few whipped cream hats. We feasted on all the pancakes and hot chocolate our stomachs could take.

It's so fun to watch the kids' personalities grow each year. Lia reacts to her presents the second she can see what they are. And, it's always a BIG reaction! Nico waited until every last piece of wrapping paper was off his gift before he reacted. It was the funniest thing to watch!

We surprised them (again) with a trip to Disney World! It's the best way to keep the Christmas cheer going and celebrate their back-to-back birthdays.

Here's to the next perfect Christmas!

MERRY CHRISTMAS TO YOU AND YOU AND YOU

Christmas went by too fast, of course. It was Nico's first Christmas and if you combine the fact that he's the second child and my intense exhaustion and general "haven't been myself in oh, months and months", then that will explain why the poor kid's christmas jammies were in the laundry pile, the lack of quality pictures and the fact that despite how happy we all really were, at the end of the day I felt like I could have done more, celebrated more, enjoyed more, documented more.

Nico liked eating cardboard and playing with wrapping paper more than he enjoyed his toys. Lia said the legos were her favorite! I think there's still a present or two under the tree that we didn't get around to.

We feasted with good company and somehow managed to keep the kitchen clean all day. We face-timed family and listened to A Christmas Story in the background all day.

All in all, it was a very good Christmas. We were blessed and happy. Until the next one, xo.

CHRISTMAS AROUND HERE

December 23, 2015

Happy eve of Christmas eve, friends!

We're all a little under the weather from something or another around here but still really loving this break from school! All of the holiday shopping is done and there's just a couple items from the grocery store that I've forgotten in my past four trips.

Presents are wrapped, the lost present was repurchased, stockings are hung with care. Cookies have been decorated and the table is still covered in icing.

In the midst of slight chaos and evenings full of cranky and tired kids, I'm trying to remember to breathe and take it all in and savor these last few days of this holiday. The chaos will pick back up soon with birthdays and the new year. But tonight, I want to savor it.

May your days be merry & bright.... xo.

Merry Christmas Eve, friends! Things have been busy around here leaving me scatterbrained and pretty sure there's something major I'm forgetting to do before tomorrow. In any case, here's hoping I didn't but I'm sure tomorrow will be magical either way.

Today my to-do list feels like it's a mile long before we have some family fun later tonight. Between tidying up rooms, party prep for L (hello, mini pinatas!), last minute gift wrapping, stockings to stuff,  remembering to eat and a million bathroom breaks (hello, last few weeks of pregnancy...), I feel crazy.

BUT, Christmas magic? It's happening. Our advent calendar was a huge hit around here and we all had so much fun opening a new house each morning to discover a small treat or a fun activity. We painted ornaments, made lots of treats, donated toys and watched A Charlie Brown Christmas. We took Lia to the North Pole (AKA Bass Pro Shop) to meet Santa and it was the first year she had her picture taken without one of us holding her! Twinkly lights brighten up the gray, rainy days we're having and we finally have a working fireplace. I'm excited to sit down and open our stockings by a roaring fire tomorrow morning. Stockings were always my favorite part of Christmas. My mom did them up big and right. And since M and I don't usually exchange gifts, we fill up a stocking for each other!

And after all the holiday cheer ends tomorrow night, we get to celebrate our sweet girl turning five (!), throw her a very fun party, welcome a new year and a new baby. Things are getting exciting around here even if most days I can be found with a top knot and yoga pants willing myself to get up and do something or clean anything!

From our family to yours, we wish you the happiest of holidays wherever and however you celebrate this time of year!
