I think it's safe to say Christmas was the focus this week. I was pretty bummed to realize that our box of decorations was really only our favorite holiday books and ornaments. So, I declared this year a handmade holiday and with a little creativity, a lot of Pinterest and minimal cash, our house is feeling pretty festive! So festive, in fact, that I really want to remake all the decorations in colors that can stay up year round.

And it's official that every weekend is jam-packed and booked up until our little man arrives. I'm talking birthdays, parties, ballet recitals, holiday celebrations along with some major baking sessions and a morning at the local Christmas tree farm. We're kicking it off this weekend with the town tree lighting, the parade and best of all - a surprise trip to see The Nutcracker Ballet! Our little ballerina will be in love, for sure.

Speaking of our little ballerina, her own performance of The Nutcracker is coming up and I'm finding it hard to believe that she'll be five in a few weeks. She's a kid now, with Barbies strung about her room and her eyes feasted on THE very large, very plastic Barbie Dreamhouse. With an elevator, mom! While I LOVE whatever age and stage she's in, I do miss the baby days...

Which is good since our little guy will be here in about five weeks! All is well, even if my OB prefer I actually gained weight this pregnancy (but she's really OK as long as he is!). I haven't and I doubt 10 lbs will just creep on by January. But, maybe if I eat enough Christmas cookies... We've got one more ultrasound scheduled in two weeks and then it's weekly appointments until his birthday. And I've very curious to see if he likes uncomfortable positions outside of the womb as much as he likes 'em in there.

December feels like a whirlwind already and we're only five days in. But tonight after a little town outing, it's home for Home Alone and yep, pizza. "Ah, a lovely cheese pizza, just for me". I can't watch the movie without eating pizza...

Happy Friday!

We met with a photographer last month on a gorgeous (and cold!) evening to capture some of our last moments as a family of three. Somehow we managed to get all these under 20 minutes and we didn't need to rush L to a bathroom until the very end!

And then we went downtown Savannah to stuff our faces with burgers and fries. It was a great night and I'm so happy to have these moments of our little family being us (and growing!).

46/52 - She is forever climbing on top of her train table to play or jump on the sofa!
47/52 - Warm afternoon sunshine and (finally!) a spider-free swing set.
48/52 - Those eyes that look like a puddle of chocolate and that sweet front smile gap. They make me swoon every time...

I'm doing this series - a portrait of my child, once a week, every week, in 2014. Follow along, link up & find more from this project here

Hello Friday! The beginning of the weekend is always cause for celebration around here. And we've had a full week of re-planting old plants and buying new ones for the front yard, prepping for a yard sale and the usual school, work, ballet routine.

The house has gotten a little messy this week. And, that's putting it nicely. It's becoming very real that a new little babe is going to be living here soon and the urge to purge is going on, while the motivation and energy behind it isn't!

His room is mostly ready minus a few little details and a lack of baby essentials. Diapers for Christmas, anyone? Some days, L and I like to go sit in his room and just hang out. It's the sunniest room in the house and the most peaceful at the moment. And L loves playing with his books and toys!

As for L, she's a handful lately! Extra sweet and loving one minute, slightly crazy the next. I can't believe she'll be five soon! It's her favorite time of the year and her enthusiasm for all things birthday/Christmas/new brother is on point. She's doing great in school and working hard for her upcoming ballet recital. And lately, we've been making it to the local farmers market and park to meet up with friends!

I haven't picked up the camera since Halloween and iPhone snapshots haven't been that often either but life is moving fast. It feels like Fall and most days I have the excuse to wrap a scarf around my neck and enjoy the crunchy leaves covering our front yard. The year is winding down, but in a way it feels like thing are just starting!
