THE FACES OF A TANTRUM

Okay. I'm done now.

I was at a spouse's luncheon a few days ago and a husband had kinda crashed the luncheon and was joining us. There's no military base here, just a small building with a lot of civilians and a few military personel so most of us know each other and hang out on a regular basis. Anyways, this husband has seen my daughter on quite a few occasions and he said to me "She's always so good and quiet. I don't think I have ever heard a peep out of her!".

Ha. You haven't met the one-year old version of my little girl.
She can throw down a tantrum. For reals.

P.S. This tantrum started because she slapped me. Like, really slapped me. I gave her a firm but nice "No Lia, we don't hit". How dare I!

{one} have you ever been on TV?
Nope, I don't think I have.

{two} what was the best movie you saw last year?
Oh wow, I rarely went or saw any movies last year. The only one that really sticks out is Eclipse. I got to go out to the movies with a friend and that is a rare occasion once you become a mama!
{three} do you sleep with your sheets tucked in or out?
I only sleep with a fitted sheet. Otherwise, I get too hot.

{four} do you cut coupons?
Heck yes! I am a coupon-crazy lady. It's my way of contributing to our family. I don't work, I'm not super crafty and whatever I do make isn't really sellable. So, I save us money!

{five} do you ever count your steps when you walk?
Not really. Maybe when I was little, though.

{six} what sauce do you dip your chicken nuggets in?
It depends where I get them from. McDonald's = hot mustard sauce. Delish! Arby's = Arby's sauce (their special version of BBQ) and anywhere else I dip 'em in BBQ sauce.
{seven} do you have any magazine subscriptions?
Oh yes! I love getting magazines in the mail. I've been thrifty and have found subscriptions online for as low as $3 for a years worth. I currently get Glamour, Woman's Day, Family Circle, Redbook (thanks to my mom!), Marie Claire and Rachael Ray. I had quite a few more, but they ran out :(

{eight} when was the last time you wrote a letter on paper?
Wow! Sometime last year, I wrote my little sister in college!
{nine} what’s your favorite fruit pie?
None. I don't eat pie! But I love making apple pies.
{ten} black olives or green olives?
Neither. Yet another thing I don't eat!

my first blog award!

Yay! I'm really late in posting this but I received my first blog award awhile back. My good friend Bri from Memoirs of a Marine Corp Wife awarded me the Stylish Blogger Award. Seriously, that's awesome.
Thanks so much!

So, here's the rules.
1. Thank and link back to the person who awarded you the award.
2. Share 7 things about yourself.
3. Award 15 other bloggers.
4. Contact these bloggers and tell them about the award.

1. I am an over-analyzer. Like, I over-think the littlest things. For example, I'll create conversations in my head if I'm nervous about something so I can see all the ways it can pan out! It's weird. I should really stop.
2. I'm a southern girl, born and bred. But people swear I'm from the north because of my accent. Or lack there of.
3. I change my mind alot. It drives my hubby nuts. I'll want something (usually house decor-wise) and I'll dream of how perfect it is and then I end up disliking it a month or two after I'd have it. It usually ends up in yard sales or at Goodwill. But, I am getting a lot better at figuring out our style and not impulse buying!
4. I can't eat foods with weird textures. No matter how good they taste!
5. I love gerbera daisies, silly romantic-comedys, a good chick fiction book and the newest issue of any magazine that I read.
6. I am a baker. I lurve to bake. Only, I feel like I can't be a real baker unless I can create at least one "totally from scratch by myself" recipe. I've no idea how to even start. Any tips?
7. I love spanish food. Like LOVE it. When I first met my hubby, I had no idea how he lived his whole live eating basically a different version of meat/rice/beans/tortillas every day. My mom always cooked something different. Now? Oh, I could totally live off rice and beans. And chimichanges. And enchiladas. And queso. And dominican take-out.

Now, I'm awarding these lovely blogs.
They are some of my favorite, inspiring, fun to read blogs!
Writings of an Air Force Wife
The Domestic Wannabe
Marine parents
The Smith Circle
Bright Wishes
And for good measure...
The Diary Of A Mrs.
The Anderson Crew
Little Miss Momma

I kept my list shorter only because it's the end of nap time and the beginning of lunch time and there's lots to be done around here!

THANKFUL TUESDAY

January 11, 2011

Thankful Tuesday is coming at you late today. My days have been BUSY! Just since Saturday, I've had Ikea trips, building sofas, a babyshower, WIC appt, doctor appt, 4 trips to Target/grocery stores, a birthday dinner for a friend and a spouse's luncheon. Whew! Therefore, I'll leave the linky up until tomorrow if anyone (seriously, anyone at all?!) wants to join in. I know you have something to be thankful for!

That being said...this week I am thankful for:
A good community of people. Not everyone in NY is great, but the military spouses here can be pretty close and that's nice to have.
A warm house because of this snow storm headed our way.
The snowstorm. So maybe life will stop for a day and I can play catch-up with the house!
A beautiful little girl. She never ceases to put a smile on my face.
My house being completely fixed.
Our new sofa. It's so comfy.
Having places to go this week so L and I weren't stuck at home everyday.
My new followers! You guys are awesome. It amazes me that you guys want to read what my life is about!

operation paperback.

Everyone seems to be talking about "paying it forward" these days. Well, here's a new way to pay it forward.

Operation paperback is a non-profit organization based out of Pennsylvania. They collect gently used books and send them overseas to our troops. Since 1999, they've shipped over 1.1 million books around the globe. How awesome is that?

Our troops do SO much for us. It's nice to give back to them. Maybe it will make their time overseas a little easier. You can visit their website here to find out how to help!

Military families can now request a shipment of books. There is a form here. All you do is fill it out, let them know what kind of books you'd like and they'll send you a box of about 20-30 books! I just signed L-bug and myself up for some books.

Since I'm lucky enough to receive a shipment, I'll be collecting some to make a shipment to a troop member overseas. I encourage you to do the same!

Also, it's military monday. Check out the blog hop here and find some new blogs!
