I snapped this the weekend before last on our trip to an apple orchard. I'm pretty sure she indulged me just so I'd get the camera out of her face and she could go back to my iPhone. But, I have to say - I'm so proud of this girl. She took the weekend (and a massive fail of an apple-picking trip) SO well.

Around here lately....

I've been a sick mess for a few weeks. Being pregnant is a huge blessing, but what mama would do for some antibiotics right now. Its some kind of head cold piled on with some sinuses and that crazy breathing trouble I had last Fall and a nasty cough to boot. It's just something I can't seem to kick.

But on the bright side, Nicolas is right on track with everything and we're up to OB visits twice a week. And I'm pretty sure I've decided to schedule a c-section for several medical and personal reasons after a few chats with my OB and M. January will be here too soon!

Lia is...well, Lia! I realized recently that she spends the majority of her time with adults (us, of course) and play dates and time with friends just hasn't been a big happening lately and sometimes I really notice it when she talks to us like she's our age. And the sass? I'm really hoping that goes away before the teenage years. But really, she's still being the funniest, craziest, cutest thing we've got going on. She's making big strides in ballet and all of her teachers say she's really coming out of her shell this year.

I finally found some mini pumpkins and yesterday we went to a local Oktoberfest on the most perfect Fall day. I'll post soon about our past few weekends but for now, this is it. I've been so tired the past week I think I could just literally sleep one whole week away. But since that isn't happening, I've got a date with the sofa now.

This week brought a major lack of sleep and a horrible cough that I can't seem to shake. But, we still had fun! And, it finally feels like Fall around here so if we get to break out sweaters and boots and open our windows at night, I'm a happy girl.

We celebrated Toby the stinky dachshund yesterday. He turned 7! Which meant a trip to the dog treat bar and a new rope toy was in order. Lia, of course, helped pick out everything and couldn't stop singing some version of "I love my dog and my dog's treats" all the way home.

Last night, I pulled out a pretty dress for my girl, ironed it and left it carefully hanging on the back of the door. This morning I took extra time to braid her hair just right and add two sweet bows then I sent her off to school for her last preschool picture day. I clearly remember registration and open house for her first year and now she's over a month into her second year and it feels like we've always been doing it.

And we're just a day away from our weekend trip. I can't wait for two days in North Carolina with my loves. We're checking out an apple farm in hopes that we can find somewhere we like for the Falls we don't make it to New York and then spending an entire day in Ikea. It sounds pretty amazing right now.

September is quickly turning cozy (but still warm!) around here. I'm trying to be sure there's at least one clean, pretty to look at area of the house most days while the rest is typically some sort of mess. The crockpot is pulled out at least once a week while candles are burning almost everyday. Our little boy is letting me know he's around with tiny kicks and moves. And our big girl is laying on the sweet lovin' lately.

I'm sick with a horrible, loud cough and headaches are pretty common these days. I'm learning that some days I have to stop and do nothing but put together puzzles with L or read a book. It's a slower season of life, for sure.

And this week our favorite fall shows are back on TV and I'm looking forward to quiet nights on the sofa with my man, a bowl of popcorn and a good show.
