lia's big girl room.

goodbye, crib.
goodbye, babyhood.
goodbye, chapter one.

we're on to the next chapter of l's life. the big girl room.

the crib came down last night after we found l-bug hanging halfway out of her crib during a time-out. this kid has busted her mouth open too many times for me to take any chances on keeping her in a crib.

i wasn't sure if she was ready. i sure as heck know i wasn't. but she did great! i went in her room once during her nap yesterday to tell her to put the toys away and she cried a bit, put her toys away and slept 3 hours. she slept through the night (which is a big deal for her lately) and woke up around 8:30 this morning (another huge deal!) and had no problems going down for her nap today.

{knock on wood}. no jinxing here, please!

she seems to love her bed. i love the idea of finally decorating her bedroom! we've just moved so much that i've never truly decorated her room.

the problem is, i can't decide what to do! i want something simple and something where I can change things and add knick knacks + artwork as I please, without feeling like the room is too matchy-matchy for that.

and that rules out almost all toddler bedding. so using this picture, i've got some ideas. which the hubs seems to find funny since the room in this picture is seriously only 30 sq feet and lia's room is huge in comparison. lurve you babe.

i love the clean, simple{ness} of this room. it's clutter-free too! and the accessories and pillows are easy to pull together + make it easy to change when someone like me gets bored easily.

right now, l-bug has a large wardrobe, a bookshelf and a toddler bed. all in white. her toys were driving me nuts so on a whim today i turned the extra bedroom into a playroom of sorts. now, her room is basically a blank canvas.

i just bought this down comforter online from overstock.com and i also picked up this aqua blanket from target. i'll fold the blanket in half and drape it across the bottom half of her bed for a pop of color! which means i found something i really like (bedding-wise) for under $35!

she's got a few good knick-knacks + a few pieces of art/photos in her room and there's a bunch of great free printables on pinterest.

and i really want to get her a nightstand, similar to the picture above, a nightlight, curtains and a new rug. i'm sure it'll all come together at some point. i'll do some thrifting and hit up some yardsales.

i'm also toying with the idea of painting her bed. it's got some black scuff marks and i'm not sure if they'll come out. if they don't, i'm thinking a coat of paint. do i stick with white or go with color?

what do ya'll think? i'll have to take a picture of her room now and post it later.

it's such an exciting change in our household. i just really didn't think time would fly by SO fast.
