NICO'S FIRST DAY OF PRE-K

August 15, 2019

This kid is a few days into his pre-k year! And, I'm over here in disbelief that this is our last year before both kids are in elementary school. It's kind of nuts!

It's a little different this year - a lot of his friends switched to a different preschool and his favorite preschool teacher left too! It's going to be a little bit of an adjustment but I think he's going to have a great year.

And look how much he's grown since his first day of preschool

BACK TO HOME + SCHOOL!

Home sweet home! We got back from Mexico a few nights ago and it feels crazy good to be home again. We're jumping right back into life and routines. Starting with the first day of school!

L started second grade this morning! Which seems absolutely too much for me. Her first grade teacher was beyond amazing and really helped shape Lia. We all miss the magic that we experienced in first grade but we're still pretty excited about what this year is going to bring.

I can't wait to hear all about her day!

FIRST DAY OF FIRST GRADE

It's quiet, you guys. My biggest little is in school. My wild littlest little is napping. The house is actually clean and I'm pretending the laundry isn't piled up.

I get an afternoon to MYSELF. I could read a book. Or, catch up on Orange is the New Black. Or, get caught up in all the crazy "back to school teacher gift ideas" on Pinterest. Kidding, I already did that one.

But really, it's kind of nice to be on this side of things. We did the kindergarten thing. She's in first grade now. First graders know what they are doing. First grade moms are just excited that we got our crap together quick enough to get out of the door in time.

I met some friends for donuts this morning and they had all just dropped off their kindergarteners. And I was just thinking, I love you women but I am SO not envious of you right now.

First grade is where it's at. I'm off to make a list of all the things I can do in my newly found spare time!

FIRST DAY OF KINDERGARTEN

Our girl went off to Kindergarten today! I was pretty prepared for a meltdown or two and I stashed some tissues in my car but surprisingly, there were no tears all day and L is crazy excited to keep going to school.

She's in class with one of her best friends already and when I asked if she made any new friends she said she was "still deciding!". So, yeah... :)

She had a great first day and everything seemed to go smooth. I think she needs a little practice learning to eat lunch in 20 minutes but I think it will all be good.

Here's to an awesome year for our girl!

It was her last first day of Preschool on Thursday! She's officially in Pre-K now. She's attending the same school as last year and we're still in love with her teachers!

It's crazy to think she'll be in Kindergarten next year so I just refuse to think about that. This year, she wanted Toby in all of her pictures and he wasn't a super willing participate. Hence the blurry outake photo above...

I dropped her off alone this year and already she seems too big. She was pretty nervous and unsure about a new classroom without her best friend but after I walked her in and helped her hang up her bags and sneak a peek at her teacher from last year, her new teacher swooped in with a big hug and let me sneak away. I got a call twenty minutes later that she was settled in and happily playing and I was reassured that I could worry a little less the next four hours.

And she did great! This year she stays an hour longer and eats lunch at school. She was all smiles and told me proudly how she opened her juice box all on her own. This Pre-K thing is cool but I'm still waiting for time to slow down!

PS. Preschool, last year!
