A BIRTHDAY PARTY

Okay okay. You can stop throwing the daggers at me. Okay, I'm kidding. No one's throwing daggers at me. But I'm pretty sure people are sending slightly annoyed mind messages at me to post birthday pictures. Or comments. Bri.  Ha. Kidding again. Sort of.

It's only been a week? It's been a week! Oh man, I'm not sure which fact I can't believe more. It's been a very long week. But on the other hand, it's been a week and I haven't posted a single picture anywhere of my bug's party? Mommy fail.

No promises this is gonna be a fantastic post. I don't even have all the pictures yet. My camera died sometime during the gift-opening part. Luckily, my mom was armed with her (charged!) camera. I'll get those soon. I promise!

So, first off. I have to thank my mom. I would have never gotten this party together without her. She'll say she didn't do much, that I did all the hard work. And, while I only had her help the day of the party, she rocked. She was washing dishes left and right, throwing together sandwiches, entertaining L, dipping pretzels, sending my dad for balloons. Yeah, she totally rocked. Thanks mom!

It was a great party. Despite our house being a mess and really not having a ton of space, we shared the day with family and our closest friends. L loved the balloons. The kids had fun snacking and playing games. The adults had fun watching the kids. It was a very humbling, great day. It hit me when we were singing happy birthday to L. It hit me that this is one of those big life moments you will remember for the rest of your life. This little girl who started life at 6 lbs 11.4 oz and those big, brown eyes is now a year old. She's been here with us for 365 days. 365 days of bliss, hard work, tears, screaming fights, loving nights, sleepless nights, proud moments, a few scares, a couple tumbles and bruises, kisses and giggles.

It's so amazing that M and I brought her into this world and she's so amazing and perfect.
Seriously, someone get me a thesaurus. I can't think of a more fitting word than amazing.

For the decorations, we used tissue paper pom poms, a birthday banner, pink balloons, paper chains, snowflake garlands, paper snowflakes, picture garland and handmade birthday hats.
Her colors were pinks, white/silver and light blues.

This cake was made from scratch by me and frosted by M. We're a great team!

We had an assortment of finger foods. Mini chicken salad sandwiches, chocolate covered pretzels, chips & dip, cheese and snowflake crackers, white cheddar popcorn and melted snowmen cookies.

the birthday outfit
Shirt - Old Navy
Tights - Target
Tutu - Handmade by me
Hair bow - Gift from aunt shell

 Make a wish, baby.

 Mmm, that cake looks good.

 I ate all of mine...

Maybe I can grab another piece and no one will notice. Oh! If only it was a little closer...

All in all, this beautiful party ended with a very sleepy baby and a happy & relieved mama and daddy. The day was bittersweet. I may have shed a tear or two, knowing my baby isn't really a baby anymore. But I am so excited to see what our future holds. Baby girl, you are amazing.
