THREE

it's been over a week since our girl turned three. most days my mind is still processing that. it's just crazy to say. omg, my kid is seriously a KID now. she's old enough for dance and preschool and talking back! honestly, when does this growing up thing stop become not SO shocking?

we threw a fun, simple sort of sprinkle themed party for our families. my brain gets kind of mushed around her birthday time. this year that was thanks to thankgsiving, christmas, a new house + adopting a new pup. simple was key.

we were so fortunate to have some family come in for the celebration! L made out like a bandit, loved her balloons the best and all was happy + good.

better late than never, right? but we had a good christmas so here's some glimpses from our day.

+ we continued our tradition of opening new pajamas on christmas eve.
+ i forgot the turkey so we had a ham.
+ santa's milk & cookies were left outside. a certain little girl said that santa wasn't allowed inside the house.
+ the hubs got a video game while i got gift cards and L got all things wooden. & some big girl "lipstick".

was your christmas merry?

ONE | FIFTYTWO, THE FIFTY-TWO PROJECT

this post inspired me to start the 52 project. i did the 365 project a few years ago and while i totally cherish ALL of those photos, it became a dreaded chore to snap a photo. and this year i am all about keeping myself happy and inspired.

any excuse to take and post pictures of L makes me a pretty happy mama. one of my new year goals is to document more of our life. and to dust off my nice camera more often. if i can do two things at once, i'm in.

"a portrait of my child, once a week, every week, in 2013."

she was jumping around and fidgeting and would NOT stay still. somehow i got this photo and i look at it at least once a day. it inspires me. the smile, the twinkle in her eyes. that's my girl.

link to the project can be found on my sidebar.

the lia files | what she wore.

i'm always getting comments about lia's outfits or questions on where i get things from. and to be honest, it's just really fun to dress her up! she's got the ability to rock just about any style there is and look freaking adorable doing it.

i thought it would be fun to take photos to document what she wore and post it here. i don't know about ya'll, but i love checking out all of your toddler fashion posts!

earlier today we went on a walk with maverick. little girl can not stay still. she literally has to always be moving in some way or another. so i went with it and snapped these beauties.

cardigan: target, thrifted // top: don't remember brand, thrifted // leggings/boots: old navy

WHAT I WANT FROM 2013

January 5, 2013

i had an hour to soak in a hot bath tonight and think about what i want to do this year so i hope you all aren't tired of reading these sorts of posts. here's what i came up with.

inspired by this printable, i want to do more of what i love this year

the moments that stick in my head from the past year are all of me doing something i love. reading a really good book (like the hunger games or mindy kalings memoir). teaching myself to knit. riding a bike. spending a day at the beach with my loves. i just don't make time for myself to do those things often. i get wrapped up in housework or the ever growing to-do list. i want that to change.

the "do what you love" print is now hanging in my office to be my reminder each day.

i want to be more balanced.

in life. in my health. be more organized. more patient and kind.
i am tired of feeling like a frazzled woman every day who has nothing put together. i can't do that anymore.

i want to focus on the blog and my business.

i love blogging. and i want to get better at it. i want to document more here. maybe get a facelift and let this space really shine.
and i run a thirty-one business. too many times this year i have compared my success (or lack thereof) to others. too many times have i felt jealous of others. i started the business for me and my family. and that's what i need to focus on. i can only get out what i put in.

and being the list-maker that i am, i wrote a much longer list of specific goals but having 3 main goals keeps things do-able.

here's to 2013 and me actually doing what i say i'll do!
