Is it tuesday or wednesday?!

Gah, it's only tuesday and almost all day i've been thinking that yesterday was tuesday, i even asked a coworker if they'd watched American Idol last night...uh, no, it comes on tonight!
It seems like it's going to be a long week.

So i've started going to the gym now. Well i'm striving to go everyday this week...or at least 5 out of the 7. I've gone today and yesterday. Good so far! I decided to take a book along, so i wouldn't just stare at the clock ;)
I'm also trying to watch what i eat - i was SHOCKED to find out there's about 200 calories in a kid's meal size french frie at Wendys. Can you believe that? That small bag is not worth 200 calories for sure.
I bought a new book called Hungry Girl. It's recipes for healthier versions of favorite unhealthy foods. I haven't tried it yet, but i'm going to soon. On their website, hungry-girl.com, they even give an alternate recipe to Dairy Queen blizzards - yum!
And my new fave, actually not too bad for you snack is The Skinny Cow low fat mini fugde bars - they weigh in at just 50 calories & 2 grams of fat a bar! And they taste exactly like regular fugde bars.

Other than trying to lose weight, i'm good and everythings normal.
Toby & Jezzy are good as well. She's got an appt tomorrow for her cast. Only 4 more vet visits to go after that!

OH SUNNY DAY

It's actually 75 degrees out!

It's beautiful outside - bright, blue skies and the sun is shining. This weather makes me not hate LI so much ;)
Manny and i racked our brains for something to do today, i can't stay inside on a day like this. So we ended up putting up the croquet set and playing a few games. Suprisingly, i won twice! It would have been more interesting with more than 2 people though, but it was fun.
Now we're grilling out BBQ chicken - i love the smell of a charcoal grill.
If only the weather would last!

Jezzy is doing good - she has an appt this coming up week to have her cast checked and put back on. Hopefully we'll have just as much luck with that one as we did with this one. She just lays on her pillow all day - occasionally i'll go in and see her up and walking, but she cant go far in the laundry room.
Toby's doing good too, missing being able to play w/Jezzy, but he loves going outside the past 2 days and playing with us!

Manny & i are good as well, just working :) Manny will be coming down to NC May 11-16th for some training classes so he'll be able to see you guys back home!

Jezzy's update

April 13, 2009

I hope everyone had a great Easter! Manny and I did, but we didn't really do anything. We grilled out burgers & chicken and just relaxed around the house.

So i wanted to update on Jezzy. She had her first cast put on Wednesday, but it fell off sometime through the night and i found her in the morning with the cast just hanging by her fur. We took her back to the vet on Friday and they put another cast on her and again, kept her overnight. We picked her back up on Saturday morning, and so far so good. She's living in the laundry room now and she has to keep a cone on her head most of the time to be sure she doesn't mess with the cast. She just lays on her pillow all day, and we go in from time to time to check on her and give her treats so she doen'st feel completely left out. Toby misses her like crazy - he knows she'[s in there and he'll go up to the door and sniff, wanting to get in.

But she's doing okay, and her cast is still going strong.
Only 10 weeks to go :)

Jezzy comes home!

Here's jezzy with her cast - i just brought her home a few minutes ago.

She'll have her splint for 10 weeks, and it'll have to be changed every 2 weeks. And for the 10 weeks, we'll have to keep her up in the 2nd bedroom, away from toby and anything she can really jump on. It breaks my heart to see her in her cast, she's not crazy about it but she's doing fine. I can already tell i'm going to have to wash the outside of the cast daily - its so hard for her to move it around in the litter box.

But she's adjusting, she devoured her treats, used her litter box, ate some food and now she's relaxing in front of the door - she thinks she's gonna be able to get out!

It's going to be a long 10 weeks - but i guess that's what motherhood is all about, even if i'm just the mother of a cat :)

Oh, and a little last note - Happy Birthday to Jezabel, she turned 1 today!!! I can't believe it's been a year since we've had her, i remember the night we got her, she was so tiny, she'd sit in her milk/food bowl everything she'd try to eat!

Jezzy, the night we got her :D

Broken legs, Cupcakes & Fears

April 8, 2009

So much has happened in the past week or so...
BTW- these are not in order or importance, jezzy is by far the most important!

Firstly, the new blog! I know, i know - i'm driving you all crazy with new blog sites. I really wasn't liking the setup of the other one, plus i really wanted the (free!!!) prints i got for making it ;) This one should be final - i think!

Secondly, Jezabel broke her leg. Pretty badly. We don't know when, why or how, just that we noticed she was limping on sunday afternoon and i took her to the vet monday afternoon. The doctor said to bring her back on wednesday (today) for xrays, and he confirmed an hour or so ago she definietly broke her leg, very close to the joint. She really needs surgery to put pin in her legs, but $2,000 doesn't generally just lay around in our bank accounts, especially after buying a new car. So, for now, she's going to have a splint put on for 10 weeks. And for the 10 weeks, she has to be calm and still and can not be around Toby. Neither of them will like that very much - those 2 are best friends and love playing together! Which is probablly how the broken leg came about in the first place. So, it won't be fun times or cheap times in the Villa household for the next 3 months. I think after all this though i'll be looking for a new vet. We pay for a monthly wellness plan at PetSmart, and all that money is gone now and won't go towards her xray bills or splints. And they want to change the splint like every 10 days. Its just so much for a cat.

Thirdly, Jezzy turns 1 tomorrow! Won't be much of a happy birthday for her, but i'll be sure to load her up on treats, and set up the spare bedroom just for her. So she'll have lots of room away from Toby, and i'll have the laundry room back.

Lastly, i made cupcakes for a birthday party. I've made cupcakes before, but theses actually had to look good - haha :) I just did pillsbury, but everyone loved them and they turned out cute - i'll post pics below. I also made cupcakes for mannys birthday yesterday, those were pillsbury too, but i homemade the icing and topped them with strawberries. I'll put those pics up too - i thought they looked great! And manny thought they tasted great, lol.

Other than tons of baking and the broken leg things are pretty normal. The weather is crazy - it was 70 and beautiful on Sunday and today is cold and apparently some snowflakes fell at one point. It's no wonder im sick - again. I believe it's a sinus infection, yay me. Work is busy - i worked Mon through Fri last week, and stayed late every day i worked. And this week is the opposite - i'm either too sick to make it or too sick to stay the full shift. Hopefully i'll get better after i go to the doctors tomorrow. Manny is doing good. He made his goal weight - 185lbs. I'm so PROUD of him! Toby is fine as well, bored without jezzy around, and chewing through my underwear he finds within reach, but thats not new.

Oh, these past few days i've also been trying to conquer my fears!
I joined a gym - sadly only used it once this week, but its honestly b/c i'm sick! Can't wait to not be sick again. But i did join on Sunday, and i'm going alone mostly. And i don't mind, not like i thought i would. I'm just proud of myself for walking in and saying i want to join, and i went on Monday alone and was happy with myself for going.
Im also dealing with my fears of doctors and going tomorrow for my sinus infection.
And, i'm driving for up here! I love my new car so i want to take it everywhere. But i'm taking the parkway sometimes, which i haven't done ever, i was too scared when we first moved here. And i also drove back home from the Bronx saturday night - that made me feel good, that i accomplished something i never thought i would!

I guess for the first time, i feel more like i'm living in LI, instead of just being here. Even though i'm still not crazy about it, i'm glad i'm doing more and trying to not be so fearful of new things.
