"I like that about New York—you don’t make a lot of plans ahead of time, but you do as your day unfolds." Amy Poehler

we're leaving for new york tomorrow so the blog will be quiet for a bit. per the usual, nothing's been packed yet and the list of things to do is still long. but we're pretty excited about getting some city life for a few days.

until we get back, i'm signing off.

ps. we love amy poehler around here!

it's a good week. and yes, it's only tuesday. the house is clean and in order. laundry is going. my girl is happy with a couple bouncy balls and i'm getting my to-do list ready for the rest of the week. we spent the morning watching the smurfs at the local theater and the afternoon has been pretty simple and quiet.

we're all ready for friday. it's been almost two years since we were last in new york. i'm ready to put my feet on city streets again and see the beauty of tall buildings sharing spaces with green parks. living the majority of my life in the south hasn't taken away my love of the city.

and keeping my wanderlust of cities in check until we actually GET to the city | 1 2

m and i were recently having a little heart to heart about living here in south carolina and maybe it's not where we see ourselves for the long run. it was fun to sit on the porch and day dream about possible cities we'd consider moving to, if we ever made the move. oakland popped up on the list for a couple reasons so this post was a fun little surprise to read earlier this week.

here goes to the rest of a good week. if you could, where would you move to? any favorite places we must stop by while in new york?

also, i've got a thing for black and white stripes.

my girl | those legs are getting lanky, she's always pushing back strands of hair from her eyes and she's got an interesting sense of humor, for sure. her little brain is always on the go. and she always has something to say. this morning was no different.

reading | nothing but blogs at the moment. i'm in between books. i've got a stack, including silver linings playbook, but i'm really waiting on a copy of the final beautiful creatures book. the story is slightly predictable but SO good at the same time.

listening to | a lot of beachy/hawaiian music on pandora. most mornings, i turn on the jack johnson playlist and go about my day. with summer here (and still missing hawaii), it's just what i've been craving lately.

thinking about | new york, baby. we'll be leaving this week for the city and we literally can't wait. we'll be visiting M's family but also some of our old favorites places from when we lived there.

watching | pretty little liars and switched at birth. most of our favorite shows are on a summer hiatus so when i find time to sit down & zone out, those are usually my choices.

loving | summer storms (they are perfect for quiet, snuggly afternoons), getting to spend time with M this weekend between work and school stuff, a few new items i picked up for our trip and this smile.

i've got big plans to clean house today. monday mornings are usually quiet and uneventful for us so i like to use them for getting things back in order and ready for the week. and since this week is pretty full with a trip to the movies, laundry and packing for our trip - my brain will thank me later for tackling the house today. even if i don't want to!

the currently series is inspired by danielle.

RIGHT NOW ON A FRIDAY NIGHT

you guys. i have to tell you... i hate being alone. i can get really paranoid and i freak out easily. which means on nights like tonight, when it's just me and the girl pal, i'm disguising my terror as a girls night in mama's room!!!

so we've got double chocolate chip cookies in the oven, popcorn popping and Madeline waiting on us. we're gonna bunker down until our guy gets home. ironcially, it's summer solistice today. which means less dark, creepy skies to freak me out. because its almost 9 PM and still light outside.

nonetheless, i'm still a chicken. hope your weekend is fun and not at all creepy!

i posted about this etsy shop last week. well, in our hurry to tear open the package of headbands and try them out, we may have gotten a bit excited and untwisted my favorite one. and of course, once i got home to edit photos is when i realized we never fixed it.

so here's how it should look! and if you order in the month of june, use the code JUNE10 for 10% off your order of $10+.

FATHER'S DAY

the weekend of the dads! ours was pretty low-key. M worked a little, we planted some shrubs, made delicious food, played in the backyard, watched a movie.

but my favorite part was reconnecting with each other. i got lost in a sea of things lately and i think we both got a little clouded on why we are where we are to begin with. so we sat on the porch and talked about dreams and our relationship and my wanderlust to pick up and move and changes. it felt really good to know that even though we are two opposites we can still be on the same page as long as we keep communicating.

so here's to our guy.

that handsome face. even with the facial hair that he likes and well, i don't.

the way he cares so much that he tends to try and fix all the problems we have. because all he wants is the two girls in his life to be happy.

and the way he works two jobs AND goes to school to support us.

here's to the fact that he can make me smile or laugh just by saying i am going to smile or laugh. i can never keep a straight face.

and here's to knowing no matter how insane things gets, we keep going.

happy father's day to our favorite dad. and my dad, because he's about the best kind of man you could have for a dad. and my father-in-law. and all of you other awesome ones out there!

ps. i didn't snap any photos over the weekend but this sweet one is from a day trip in charleston a few weeks ago.

top: walmart || skirt: target, thrifted || shoes: saltwater || headbands: c sister bands

last week, a sweet blog reader sent us some awesome headbands and bows and in exchange i snapped these photos above for her etsy shop. and can i just say - we love them!

this cheerios commerical is seriously sweet. but the mean, hateful response it got is not.

this DIY concrete stool is a brilliant (and cheaper!) solution for our backyard table dilemna.

and this would give our arched door ways a serious pop!

pretty little liars AND switched at birth started this week. just call me a nerd.

also, this book series. i'm on the third one and i almost want to stop reading just so it never ends.

and lastly, if you haven't checked out her blog - do it! the pictures of her house (because i stalk follow her on instagram too) are giving me big time inspiration for our new home!

that's it for the link love. it's late. and way past this gal's bedtime. rarely do i stay up late just for quiet or me time or blogging or anything less than required.

happy weekending!
