A few weeks ago we raked up the front yard just so we could introduce L to the fun of jumping in a pile of leaves. Our tree is bare now and that bums me out a bit. But these kids and those leaves have my heart swooning still!

Dreaming... up birthday plans for two cool little kids.

Pinning... a party idea or two and a festive banner I want to craft up.

Eating... one too many chocolate chip muffins.

Packing... all the things for our 6 hour road trip this week.

Planning... some Christmas fun for next month!

Reading... One plus One by Jojo Moyes and whatever my philosophy teacher throws at me.

Binge watching... Gilmore Girls, still!

Wrapping up... the last assignments of the semester!

Wearing... my new oxfords that are quite perfect.

Loving on... my sweet little guy. I swear those cheeks beg me to smother them in kisses all day.

Thankful for... a great husband, two adorable kids, our cozy house and a little vacation!

Happy Thanksgiving, friends!

Thanksgiving is next week and we're gearing up for a trip to North Carolina. Nico needs to show off his speed crawling and a certain little girl misses her aunts and grandparents like nobody's business.

I think the whole month has gone by without much reflection on my end. I snap pictures when something dreamy happens or when I remember to but that's about it. I feel like I can hold my head above water with classes and homework finally. Of course, we're a few weeks away from the end of the semester.

I feel like I'm a broken record these days. My brain keeps whirling around feeling like something is off-kilter. BUT! We're alright. The kids are alright. I'm binge watching Gilmore Girls. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that we get to take L out for a little movie outing. Some solid parent and first child time is much needed over here!

You can find me chasing after Nico all day, every day while smothering him with kisses. Lia is learning to read! And counting to 100 in every way possible. I aced my english midterm. The one that had me anxiety ridden for weeks.

We started a weekly tradition of spending our Monday afternoons at the library. We have books on top of books on top of books. Nico says "mama"! Lia is growing up so fast. She volunteered at her school to help clean up trash from the grounds.

AND...I think that wraps up what's been going on. Here's hoping I start writing at a regular pace again soon!

AN OCTOBER WRAP-UP

November 7, 2015

There's so many little stories to tell from October. I write here to document everything. The little things, the big things, the good things, the bad things and whatever comes in between. I want to remember the stories in this life of ours. And I've been busy and distracted lately and my intention to blog regularly hasn't panned out so before I forget, here they are..

We had just left a street fair where both kids were pretty stellar all things considered and I made the boys stop so I could snap a few photos and I got this blurry shot that stole my heart.

Nico took his first hay ride that day. It was too warm for October and I can't help thinking back to the same festival last year when that handsome guy was still growing in my belly.

Celebrating all of us and our good grades with ice-cream!

These donuts were a flop. But we made memories and the house smelled good!

The laundry room is still in progress but I stare at these stripes a little everyday.

I spent the entire day with my girl when I chaperoned her field trip to the pumpkin patch. Nothing is better than getting to see her in her element with her friends!

L's first school fall festival was fun and we wrapped up the night with a McDonalds run and dreaming of a fun weekend.

Target for the win.

And now, on to November and everything that is waiting for us!

LOOKING FORWARD TO | NOVEMBER

It's that time of the year again when I struggle between respecting the turkey and jumping on the Christmas bandwagon with my freak flag flying.

Still, once upon a time November was my absolute favorite month and even though we used up all of our crunchy leaves and golden hours last month, I can still appreciate a month of breathing time before the mother of all holidays hits our house.

I'm looking forward to...

Thanksgiving and the road trip that goes along with it.
Macy's Thanksgiving Parade.
Santa's arrival in my small hometown. It was pretty magical last year.
A movie date to see the last Hunger Games movie.
And another to take our gang to see Peanuts on the big screen!
Digging into a few new books.
Being one month closer to finishing up this semester.
Purging and figuring out how to Nico-proof the house.
Listening to a few Christmas tunes with my girl.
And, a little early Christmas shopping.
Having some mama friends over to hang out with, eat and just be.
Cozy nights.
And twinkling lights.

Here's to being thankful, xo!

GOOD TIMES AT THE PUMPKIN PATCH

November 3, 2015

It seems we've set roots in this little town of ours. Five Halloweens. Five trips to this same pumpkin patch.

I've watched our little girl grow up in this setting. I've watched her gain the courage to run up the hay tower and through the tunnel. And now! Now she's got a little brother watching her every move.

And while neither were very excited about the camera I stuck in their faces the entire afternoon, we made some sweet memories.

HALLOWEEN 2015

Don't you love when Halloween is on a Saturday? There's time to make themed dinners and babes can take naps and there's no crazy rushing out the door while still putting on costumes.

Lia wanted to be a painter this year with Nico as her masterpiece. Then, she wanted them both to be mice. She couldn't choose which costume she liked better so we tweaked both ideas together. We got about one street in before she decided to just be a mouse. Nico, of course, wanted nothing to do with his mouse ears. Go figure! My tail fell off a few times during the night but all in all, it was a success. Six years of handmade costumes and still going. All hail the glue gun and a very patient husband!

Now here's hoping I can resist the load of candy this kid got!
