Mamarazzi Monday
It's Mamarazzi Monday again!

Check it out (her bruise), right there on her forehead!
Her jammies didn't have the grippy stuff on them and she slipped on the floor while crawling.

I know, I know. I haven't posted anything since last Monday's Mamarazzi post. I was sick and M was away for a day and I just didn't have anything substantial to post. August has been a crummy posting month but I'm hoping to be back around more often in September. Fall is the best and I always try to get out and find carnivals and festivals and apple orchards and all things Fall-ish to do!

And, you can look forward to a birthday post for me and L's 8 month letter this week! Can you believe I have an 8 month old as of yesterday? I can't!!

Happy Monday ya'll (even though it's mostly over) and go link up to Mamarazzi Monday!

Mamarazzi Monday - Frisbees and Teeth.

August 23, 2010

So, I've seriously lacked on my mamarazzi duties. Not so much the picture taking part, but the posting part. But, I'm working on organizing my hectic mind and getting things written down on a list so they get done. Sadly, I have to write "blog!" on my list to make sure it gets done.

We took L to the park on Saturday. It was a blah, dreary day but we didn't want Lia holed up in the house all day. She enjoyed the swings for a bit then hung out in her stroller and watched us play miniature golf. On the way to the car, we decided to toss around the Frisbee instead. Who would have thought L would react the way she did?! I don't know if its the idea of something pink flying through the air or her momma + daddy running around trying to catch said flying pink object but L thought it was HILARIOUS! She would laugh and laugh.

L has been drooling loads and nomming on anything within her reach for months. Yesterday, she was cranky and it took a couple car rides to calm her down and get her to nap. When we got home after the last car ride, she wasn't really cranky anymore. More like unusually quiet. She was content to sit in our laps. I noticed something was off when she fell asleep while I rocked her. This may sound normal to some of ya'll. But in L's case, not so much.  After that, she would nap, maybe stir or wake up for a bit and go back to sleep in my arms while M + I watched movies. This went on for a few hours. Around 9:30ish, we went up to bed and I let L stay in bed for us. She had her last bottle and dozed off beside me. Around 11ish, M put her in her crib and we hoped she would sleep through the night (unlike Saturday night when she was up at 2 AM and wouldn't go back down unless I brought her to bed with us). She cryed once through the night and stirred around alot after 6 AM but she did sleep and didn't get up for good until 8 AM. While I was giving her breakfast this morning, I took a look at her gums and sure enough it looks like a tooth is trying to push through. We've got a freezer full of teethers, Orajel, baby Tylenol and lots of cuddles and love from mama + daddy to get us through this new phase. I'm hoping it pushes through in the next day or two (I'm so excited to say my baby has a tooth!), but I've no idea how long teething really takes.

Here's my L-bug this morning. All smiles. She's a champ at teething so far. The picture really doesn't show it but the bottom front right tooth is the one trying to pop through. Whew, did I describe that right?!

I'm off to be domestic! I've got to clean the kitchen, finish the load of laundry, pick up the living room, fill out my weekly meal plan + my weekly planner and get myself ready for work later on. Did I mention I'm going back to work? It's part time, if you could even call it that. It's one night a week, for 4 1/2 hours. For now, anyways. It's nice to have a little (and I do mean little) bit of money coming in and an evening out of the house. It's work but it's good for mamas to get out sometimes.

Don't forget to link up your mamarazzi Monday posts!

Summer Days & Summer Nights.

August 19, 2010

Summer has been flying by. There's only one month left, give or take a few days. I can feel Fall right around the corner. Fall is my absolute favorite! I love everything about it - the smell, the color change in leaves, Halloween, apple-picking, Thanksgiving, wearing pretty scarves and sweaters. My cheesy Fall past time is cuddling in bed with Meg Ryan movies - namely Sleepless in Seattle, You've Got Mail and When Harry Met Sally. I. Can't. Wait.

But until then, I thought I'd look back on how we filled our summer with fun, smiles and good times!

Trips to the park.

Playing in the grass.

Baseball games.

Fresh fruit.

Splashing in the pool.

Sweet tea.

Movies under the stars.

Fourth of July celebrations.

Trips to the zoo and aquarium.

Of course, not pictured are the BBQ and dinners with friends and families. The late nights of hanging out and playing games with good friends. The trips to North Carolina to visit my family.  Trips into the city with M + L to check out the Brooklyn Flea Market, grab a popbar icy treat, eat tons of yummy NY pizza slices. By the way, the popbar strawberry sorbetto pop dipped in milk chocolate is amazing and the little pizza joint in the next shop or two over that most likely has a line is DELICIOUS. Trips to New Jersey to see Carlos' Bakery and do some outlet mall shopping. Our huge yard sale and goodwill shopping. Hanging out in the backyard roasting marshmallows. And, so many more fun times.

We've had one great summer.

PS
On a side note, Lia is officially mobile. She's got her own version of crawling and she is getting places. And getting there fast! She makes a bee-line for everything she isn't supposed to get into and just laughs at me when I say NO. It's time to do some serious childproofing.

LETTERS TO LIA | 7 MONTHS

August 13, 2010

Baby girl,
You will be turning 8 months soon and mama has been such a slacker with your 7 month letter. Life happened and mama turned lazy. But I'm back and working hard to get organized!

So, 7 months! My, how you've changed and grown. You aren't a baby anymore. You change right before my eyes every day. Just today, I left you in the floor playing with a box and you pulled yourself to a standing position with it! You're doing this in your crib too, so it's time to lower your mattress.

Sorry that it's sideways...I don't know how to rotate it!
You weigh between 18-21 lbs.  You now go to the doctor every 2 months for checkups, so I don't have exact stats.
You've got incredible strength for your size. You are incredibly smart too.
Babbling is very fun for you. You do it alot. And, you are working on saying 'dada'. You've said it once, but so far it's coming out more like 'da' or 'dadadadadada'. Still very cute!
Everything grabs your interest and everything ends up in your hands or mouth. Mommy thinks its time to do some serious child-proofing here. You can find a wire from across the room. Why you like those more than your colorful and bright toys, I don't know. You pull baskets out of the entertainment center and the coffee table. We are officially done with your swing. It's more of a hazard than a help these days. It's going into storage this weekend until you have a little brother or sister that needs it!
And, you've learned to try and pull yourself up on me. Especially when I put you in the kitchen floor while I clean up or do the dishes. Your just like a toddler holding on to someones leg.

Food wise - you are an eater! And your chubby self shows it. I love your chub. I dread the day it falls off once you learn how to walk and go EVERYWHERE. You eat 2 meals a day, a midday snack (usually yogurt) and all the fresh fruit you want along with your 5-6 bottles.  And, you almost always have a taste of our foods and treats. I made a chicken, potato & carrot stew the other day and daddy pureed the potatoes and carrots with some stew juice and he said you LOVED it! We recently gave you organic baby yogurt (not the Gerber kind, actual yogurt from the fridge section) and you are crazy about it. We haven't had any problems with it so it'll stay in your diet.

You've given up on naps. If you are pushed around in your stroller in the house, you'll take a catnap (15-30 minutes) but that's about it. You go to bed pretty good, every night around 8:30 - 9:00 PM. We don't have a "bedtime routine" really, you just get a bath every night and a bottle. You wake up between 6-7 AM every day. For the most part, you are a good sleeper at night - we just gotta work on those naps!

You are an amazing little girl. You love people, especially kids. You love new things and new places. Sometimes, I still can't believe I am a mother. Being your mama is the best thing I will ever do. You amaze me each day and I fall more and more in love with you as time passes. You are growing so fast and learning new things, it's throwing me for a loop lately. But, as long as I get to see you laugh and smile every day, I'd go through a gazillion hoops.

Mama loves you so very much, baby girl. I'm sorry for the super-late letter!

XOXO,
Mommy

Happy Thursday.

I can't help but smile when I see this photo.

I've got errands, dentist appointments, heaps of laundry, a messy house and babysitting on today's agenda. I've been meaning to blog but life tends to say otherwise (my procrastinating and crap time management doesn't help either). It's almost the weekend though, so hopefully I can get things crossed off my to-do list and still enjoy time with my loves.

Happy Thursday!

Day 14 - A Nonfictional Book.

August 3, 2010

So, I am thinking... Is the purpose behind the "30 days of me" to post once a day for 30 straight days or to really learn about me. Because if you've read enough of my blog, you know I suck at posting once a day. It's not that I don't have something to post. I forget. Or, I procrastinate. Or, I am plain busy.

We're just gonna go with the second option. You'll learn 30 things about me. Just not 30 days in a row! Sound good to you? Sounds good to me.

For Day 14, whenever I think of a non-fictional book I think of Anne Frank: The Diary of a Young Girl. Nothing really needs to be said. It's amazing. She's amazing. Go read it and be amazing too!
