i never got around to posting it but the weekend before last we finalized maverick's adoption.
he said his last goodbyes to the shelter and everyone who took care of him then we took the dogs to the treat bar at petco and we celebrated with some frozen yogurt.
this big guy is ours now.
he head butts. and his skull is hard. he has so much energy that he bucks around like a bull. he pretty much takes up the entire sofa. he likes to step on people's feet with his big paws. he is still eating us out of the house. and he is doing better with the house training. not perfect, but we only had 2 accidents this weekend.
he and tobes aren't best friends yet but they are getting there. i caught them snuggling together yesterday.
it's quite the adventure.
The puppy we adopted on Saturday and our dog Bella are getting along much better now. They are far from being best friends but they will nap together and play together outside. Be patient with your original dog =) It's a huge adjustment for them!

aww, so glad your dogs are getting along! my two are doing WAY better than i expected! and we're finally getting the house training thing down so we're much happier :)

ReplyDeletethanks!! he is such a handsome guy and we love him SO much. we're so blessed we were able to adopt him and give him a great loving home. the shelter was very nice but no doggie should have to live there forever :)
DeleteI never realized it before but he is huge!!! But so beautiful! The pic of him and Toby is tooo cute!! I can't wait till i can dopt my own puppy! (And by puppy I mean a dog about the same size as Maverick lol)
ReplyDeletehaha he is HUGE :) and pretty awkward sometimes! i couldn't believe they actually layed down together - they don't seem to mind each other too much these days if they have their own space.

he tends to step over our other dog (thank goodness LOL!) but he pretty much steps on the rest of us all the time ;) or he just jumps over us! whichever seems to get him to where he wants to be the fastest!
